Creating a Campaign
Last updated: September 11, 2025
Creating a campaign in the platform is the first step in launching media with Kohl’s Media Network. This article walks through how to create a campaign and an associated ad group using the UI.
Step 1: Create the Campaign
In the left-hand menu, click Campaigns
Select Create Campaign
Select your Placement
You'll see a form where you’ll define the campaign’s structure, including:
Campaign Name: Use something descriptive and consistent (e.g., Back to School – Shoes – July)
Start Date / End Date: Set the flight dates for the campaign
Budget: Select your Budget Frequency and Enter a budget
Pacing: Choose how you want your budget to pace within the selected frequency (ASAP, Evenly, Accelerated).
⚠ Note: Required fields may vary slightly depending on your campaign type or permissions.
Click Save to lock in your campaign setup. You’ll be taken to the next page where you can now add ad groups.
Step 2: Create Ad Group(s)
With your campaign created, it’s time to define your ad group(s). Each ad group controls bidding, targeting and creatives for a particular set of products or audiences.
You'll see a form where you’ll define the ad group, including:
Ad Group Name: Clear, concise naming helps with reporting
Start Date / End Date: Usually the same as the campaign, unless otherwise needed
Products: Select the products you want to include in your ad group
Budget: Enter a budget
Targeting (optional): Customize your bids for strategic keywords
Multiplier: Adjust the bid values by applying percentage based multipliers to specific targeting dimensions. This approach allows more granular control over spend by increasing bids.
Boost: A parameter that raises your base bid by a specific amount when your ad is displayed to your selected audience.
⚠ Note: Required fields may vary slightly depending on your campaign type or permissions.
✅ You can create multiple ad groups within a campaign to test performance across segments, bids, or placements.
Click Save to add the ad group to your campaign. You can return at any time to edit, pause, or duplicate it.
Step 3: Review and Launch
Check that everything looks good and hit Submit! Your campaign will start as soon as it is approved or on the start date, whichever is sooner. Some ad types (like Product Listings Ads) do not require approvals.
Best Practices
Structure for Clarity: Use consistent naming for campaigns and ad groups so they’re easy to manage later.
Segment Smartly: Break out ad groups by category, audience, or bid strategy for cleaner optimization.
